Katherine Meyer Talks About Yerkes’ Chimpanzee Case On Animal Law Podcast

Kathy appeared on the 13th episode of the Animal Law Podcast today, speaking about our case on behalf of the New England Anti-Vivisection Society (NEAVS) and a coalition of chimpanzee sanctuaries and individuals in which we are trying to stop the export of seven chimpanzees from Yerkes National Research Center to an unaccredited zoo in England.  The Plaintiffs in the case are advocating that the chimpanzees instead be sent to one of several U.S. sanctuaries that have agree to take them.  Please see our previous blogs on this case.  After a three-hour hearing on Plaintiffs’ motion for a preliminary injunction on May 24, 2016, Yerkes agreed not to export the chimpanzees until the Court has an opportunity to decide the entire case on the merits sometime in September.  Kathy’s portion of the podcast can be heard starting at 10:56.
