Queen Anne's Conservation Association v. U.S. Department of State, Civ. No. 10-670 (D.D.C.)
Case Summary:
On behalf of the Queen Ann’s Conservation Association (“QACA”), a grassroots organization working on conservation issues in the Chesapeake bay watershed, we brought a Freedom of Information Act (“FOIA”) lawsuit seeking to obtain records concerning the State Department’s proposal to build a massive training facility in a rural area that also serves as habitat for the endangered Delmarva fox squirrel. After we filed an extensive motion for preliminary injunction seeking to obtain the records needed to comment on a draft NEPA document, the government not only agreed to provide us with essential records, but also abandoned the ill-advised project.
