People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals v. Department of Agriculture, No. 06-930. 2007 WL 1720136 (D.D.C. June 11, 2007)

Case Summary:

We represented People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in a FOIA suit against the U.S. Department of Agriculture, challenging the agency's withholding of information concerning several of the agency's investigations of Animal Welfare Act violations. We also challenged the agency's pattern and practice of withholding witness statements under the FOIA's privacy exemptions. Shortly after we filed suit the USDA released all of the witness statements and the court ordered the USDA to release additional critical information. See People for Ethical Treatment of Animals v. U.S. Dep't. of Agriculture., No. 06-930, 2007 WL 1720136 (D.D.C. June 11, 2007).
