Lurie v. Department of the Army, 970 F. Supp. 19 (D.D.C. 1997)

Case Summary:

On behalf of the Public Citizen Health Research Group and AIDS researcher Dr. Peter Lurie, we challenged the Department of the Army's refusal to release records concerning an internal investigation of whether federally funded research into a possible AIDS vaccine had been misrepresented to the public. The United States District Court for the District of Columbia agreed that there was an enormous public interest in release of the information and required that most of the internal report be disclosed.
