Fund for Animals v. Babbitt, Civ. No. 97-1126 (D.D.C.)
Case Summary:
On behalf of the Fund for Animals and other groups, in 1997 we settled a suit
against the Park Service requiring the agency to prepare an environmental impact
statement (EIS) concerning winter use in Yellowstone National Park. In 2001, the
agency completed the EIS and decided to eliminate snowmobiling in the Park, but
to continue grooming snow-packed roads, despite their adverse impacts on bison
